How to request the Graduate School Application Forms Before requesting application forms, applicants are advised to make contact with the professor of the laboratory of desired choice. To request application forms, applicants should post a letter including name, address, the name of the laboratory of desired choice, and the desired graduate course to the contact address shown below. A: One who has completed 16 years of education abroad can apply for “Special-Selection Foreign Students”, however one who has completed a university graduate degree at a Japanese university must apply for the same entrance examination as Japanese students. Q: Is it necessary to be enrolled as a research student before applying for Master’s/Doctoral program? A: You can apply for Master’s/Doctoral program without enrollment as a research student. Q: Are there any university scholarships available at the University of Tokyo? A: There is a scholarship called "Scholarship for International Students, awarded by the University of Tokyo Foundation". This scholarship is provided for 30 students/year (1 student from Graduate School of Pharmaceutical Sciences) and the monthly stipend is 50,000yen. There is another scholarship called “The University of Tokyo Special Scholarship for International Students (University of Tokyo Fellowship)”,150,000yen per month, provided for 1 student from Graduate School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, but you can not apply for tuition exemption. Q: Are there any scholarships available from private foundations for which I can apply before coming to Japan? A: There are a few scholarships you can apply before coming to Japan, but the number is very limited. Also, getting a scholarship is quite hard even after entering the university. Therefore, we recommend you to apply for Monbukagakusho Scholarship (MEXT) before you come to Japan. Q: Is the certificate of "Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JEES)" necessary to be submitted? A: You must submit “Japanese Language Proficiency Test Certificate of Results and Scores “ or a Japanese Proficiency Level Certificate (prescribed form) approved by the applicant’s instructor or equivalent authority. Q: Is the certificate of English Ability Test necessary to be submitted? A: An examination of foreign languages (English and Japanese) is included in written examination subjects. TOEFL / GRE score sheet are not necessary to be submitted. Q: Is it possible to change the date of entrance from October 2008 to April 2009 after applying? A: October 2008 applicants can not change the date of entrance from October 2008 to April 2009. Q: Under some special conditions, is it possible to be accepted the application after the application period? A: We do not accept the application after the application deadline under any circumstances. Q: Is it possible to be returned all of the application documents submitted? A: We do not return the application documents submitted under any circumstances. Q: Is it possible to get Past Entrance Examination Papers of the Graduate School of Pharmaceutical Sciences? A: It is possible to photocopy Past Entrance Examination Papers of the Graduate School of Pharmaceutical Sciences at Pharmaceutical Sciences Library. Please ask the laboratory of your choice in details. Q: Are the number of applicants, successful candidates and entering students open to public?
