Congratulations on your being the recipient of the 2003 AAPS Distinguished Pharmaceutical Scientist Award. I had hoped to congratulate you in person during the Annual AAPS Meetings in Salt Lake City; however, because of Setsuko's need for emergency surgery at John Hopkins Hospital I was out of town during October.

I cannot think of a more deserving scientist than you, because of your sustained research contributions that can be characterized as being of the highest quality and, at the same time, being of enormous practical relevance.

I wish for you continued success in the future.
