Dear Yuichi,
On the occasion of your receiving the AAPS Distinguished Pharmaceutical
Scientist Award, I would like to send you my whole hearted congratulations
for your achievements as one of the most productive leading scientists
in pharmaceutical research.
During the past 10 years, I have the honor to work with you and learn from you through various occasions. I have been very impressed by your dedication to research and scientific insights in pursuing new areas of research in pharmacokinetics and transport. I admire, in addition to your scientific ability, your enthusiasm as a teacher. I recall seeing a framed calligraphy written in Chinese hung in one of the lecture rooms in your department as I listened to each of the 5 minute- presentation given by 30 of your undergraduate and graduate students. What crossed my mind as a participant of your group meeting, was that the famous words of Confucius g Never Bored of Learningh fittingly capture the learning spirit of your group, and the second phrase of this famous saying, gNever Tired on Mentoringh, although not included in this calligraphy, was also most reflective of yourself and your colleagues in your department as tireless teachers.
I am sending you my best wishes for continued success and satisfaction in your scientific pursuit and mentoring. I am thankful for what I have learned from you as my peer, teacher and friend.
