I would like to congratulate Prof. Yuichi Sugyjama as recipient for the 2003 AAPS Distiguished Award. This is the first time, that someone outside the US has been nominated. Dr.Sugyjama is the first Japanese Scientist who received this award.
I know Professor Y.Sugyjama as a sympathic, interested, trustable and sharply analytically thinking scientist.
With his research in the area of pharmacokinetics, especially the science of the transporters, Prof.Sugyjama made significant and pioneering contributions towards the understanding of drug transport and exposure, pharmacodynamic variability and drug drug interactions.
All PhD's of the drug metabolism department at Boehringer Ingelheim in Biberach /Germany wish Prof.Sugyjama all the best for the coming years, health and further success in his scientific plans to discover new mechanisms which will definitely help to better understand the behavior of drugs in man.
